Through the story of his brother, Danny Vineyard, we learn that Derek was the leader of a brutal white gang of conscripts who consistently committed skinhead and racist crimes before going to prison, and that his actions greatly influenced Danny. Derek is reformed and just released from prison. He separates himself from the gang and is set on preventing Danny from going the same violent path as he does.
